This is a free,online government compendium of federal programs, projects, services, and activities providing assistance to the public, of both financial and non financial nature. The descriptions of the programs usually are in formal government language.

The CGP is the finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online. The catalog offers you the option to find a nearby Federal Depository Library that has a particular publication or that can provide expert assistance in finding and using related U.S. government information.<

As a priority Open Government Initiative, Data.gov increases the ability of the public to easily find, download, and use datasets that are generated and held by the Federal Government. Data.gov provides descriptions of the Federal datasets (metadata), information about how to access the datasets, and tools that leverage government datasets. The data catalogs will continue to grow as datasets are added. Federal, Executive Branch data are included.

The mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and bring to the criminal and civil justice system of the United States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those organizations and principal members of organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances appearing in or destined for illicit traffic in the United States; and to recommend and support non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and international markets.

The official handbook of the Federal Government, the United States Government Manual provides comprehensive information on the agencies of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches. It also includes information on quasi-official agencies, international organizations in which the United States participates, and boards, commissions, and committees. The Manual begins with reprints of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

This site is working on getting full text data on patents and trademarks. When complete, it will offer free full text information on 2 million patents dating back to 1976 as well as text and clipped images of 800,000 trademarks and 300,000 pending registrations dating back from the late 1800's to the present.
