This guide provides resources for accounting students and instructors.

Accounting Programs at Coastal Bend College

  • Accounting

  • Accounting students will receive an industry driven foundation of accounting theory, practices, and knowledge of accounting processes. Graduates from the program will be competent in basic accounting knowledge so they may enter the profession at a junior level in business and/or government entities. To achieve this goal, students will develop proficiency in accumulating, recording, classifying and interpreting financial data for an economic entity. In addition to preparing/ maintaining accounting records from the date of the original transaction through a full accounting cycle, students will learn the theory and practice of statement preparation and presentation. Other areas in which students will become proficient include: the why and how of accounting systems, professionally established accepted principles, journal transactions and accrual versus cash. Managerial concerns are addressed extensively: cash flow, taxes, budgets, balance sheet and income statement relationships, analysis of changes in assets/revenues/expenses, and the use of standard costs for planning and control.

    How much will it cost?

Total Program/Course Fees- in addition to tuition and fees, students will pay a lab fee for courses requiring labs. This fee is based on materials, consumables, and supplies required for the particular lab. Lab fees may vary due to an individual’s ability and materials required by the course labs. Lab fees for particular courses are listed in core syllabi and based on the average student completing the course. Contact program faculty for more information on lab fees.
